A History of Service and Resilience

2002

Leaf River Ag was formed in 2002 through the merger of two long-standing cooperatives: Northern Co-op of Wadena and Bluff Creek Co-op, which served the Bluffton and New York Mills areas. Together, they created a stronger organization dedicated to supporting rural communities with reliable products and service.

2010

In 2010, that commitment was tested when a tornado destroyed our facility along U.S. Highway 10. Instead of stepping back, we stepped up—rebuilding in the southeast industrial park off U.S. Highway 71 in Wadena.

2011

By early 2011, our new office, seed warehouse, feed warehouse, fertilizer building, and chemical shed were nearing completion—allowing us to continue serving members without missing a beat.

A Member-Owned Cooperative

As a cooperative, Leaf River Ag is owned by the members it serves. That means our focus isn’t on shareholders—it’s on you.

Our direction is guided by a local, seven-member board of directors elected by our patrons, ensuring that decisions reflect the needs of our community.
